My explaination

So this is my explanation writing about native species.

Loss of biodiversity and extinction of native species

There is a massive concern in New Zealand as there is a huge amount of loss of native species and biodiversity in their habitats. The kiwi, Ma ́s dolphin and the greater short-tailed bat are all at risk of extinction, which means they are dying. We have already lost many native species like the moa.

Endangered kiwi birds are being killed by stoats, cats, ferrets, and dogs.  Kiwi birds can live for up to 25 to 50 years but they are all so different. There are several species of kiwis like the brown kiwi, the great spotted kiwi and the little spotted kiwi, the rowi kiwi, the tokoeka kiwi and those are all of the different species of kiwis.

Secondly there are currently only 55 of Maui’s dolphins left so we need to stop fishermen because they are a threat to them.  They can get their population down so there are less of them in the world. They can live for up to 20 years but are in severe need of habitat protection.

Thirdly the endangered short-tailed bat are found in the south of Stewart Island but the pests are rats, cats and stoats. The loss of their habitat where they eat   insects, especially beetles, flies, and moths, as well as flowers, fruit, nectar, and pollen but there is one thing we don't ́t know is how many of them are left so we should help them by killing all the pests that threaten them and their habitat.

In conclusion we need to help them by not fishing as much and trap some for the pests that are killing them. So if you see a rat around you kill it because that is one bat you could save every time you see a rat.
